Breast Reduction

The breast is a reference point of a woman’s femininity. Large breasts, however, can cause problems. Due to large breasts, the women may feel uncomfortable, be limited in what they can wear and be limited during exercise. In addition, large breasts are associated with health problems, such as neck and spine pain, irritation in the inframammary folds, as well as indentations of the bra on the shoulders. The solution to this problem is breast reduction surgery.

What is breast reduction?

Making the breasts smaller is just one of the many aspects of this surgery. Thus, much more than simply reducing the size of the breast, the real goal of the operation is to create an optimally proportioned breast, which is achieved by improving the shape, position, projection, proportion and reduced volume of the breast. The improvement in breast aesthetics, physical comfort and self-confidence is impressive.

How long does the procedure take?

The operation lasts 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the problem.

What anesthesia is needed?

Surgery is done under general anesthesia and the patient leaves the hospital the next morning.

How long does recovery take?

After surgery there is minimal pain and slight swelling in the area. The patient can take care of herself from day one. After the operation, the patient is advised to wear an sports bra for one month.

Are there incisions?

The existence of incisions depends on the size of the problem. With modern techniques, large and misshapen scars in the shape of an upside-down “T” or “anchor” are now avoided. Usually, the incisions are limited to one incision around the nipple and one perpendicular below it. The scars are permanent and visible immediately after the operation but over time they improve.
